It turns out that the second day of first grade can be quite the adventure for a six year old..... today, being the second day of first grade, was the first day for Preston to ride the bus to his daycare. On the first day of school I picked him up - our only adventure that day was spending 45 minutes in the toy aisle at Target trying to understand that a $5 spending limit really wasn't going to turn into a $21.95 Optimus Prime toy... but I digress..
So the second day of school is his first to go to daycare on the daycare bus. His teacher knew that is where he was going. He knew that was where he was going. But the teacher that handles the actual logistics of getting 50+ munchkins onto their various modes of transport, both public and private, didn't know where he was supposed to go. So, obedient little Preston stayed in line to get on the bus. Uh, the WRONG BUS.
The daycare called asking if we had picked him up, because they couldn't find him. They tracked our little bus fugitive to the school bus he got on (the big yellow one, not the small brown one), and about 45 minutes after he left, he came back and transferred to the correct bus. Phew!! Mom and I were, um, hmmmm...... We were very happy that he had a nice time on the school bus and made it back to daycare.
Travel adventures apparently run in the family!
